A Health Revolution is Aflutter
by 250 butterflies
The Helfgott Research Institute sponsored a group of thoughtful citizens to revolutionize health care. What was formed eventually was coined Operation Oprah: Project 61. Armed only with ink, paper, postage stamps, and paint, the idea was to get the word about natural health care, yet what transpired over the course of a two-month period was down right phenomenal. 1000 handmade butterfly cards were created, each filled with a reflection of different perspective about how natural health care has impacted human life. The result was an NCNM community-wide campaign filled with compassionate intentions for change, everyone working together, everyone filling blank pages with handwritten, heartfelt inspirations.
What started out as an organized grassroots attempt to alert Oprah Winfrey to the options of health care, turned into a collective explosion of creativity. Read the inspired personal messages snail mailed to Oprah Winfrey in this beautifully bound, 100% uniquely designed book. Just like the butterflies, only 52 copies will be made of each variety, all proceeds will go towards a scholarship fund for individuals who wish to pursue natural medicine, yet need financial assistance. Support this worthy cause and be the first on your block to own one!
Please note that you can now purchase A Health Revolution is Aflutter for $25.00 and from the NCNM bookstore… just in time for the holiday season. Only 52 first edition copies are available.*
* A second edition of A Health Care Revolution is Aflutter is also available. This edition is not hand-bound, yet carries a distinct, hand-pounded stamp.
graphite & grafitti
by Azalea Hazelwood
Azalea has flitted about the Portland poetry scene for just a short while, but her words juxtapose thought through a unique multi-dimensional voice, capturing an essence of innocence, with complexity in mind. Here is just one example of what she creates:
Wallflower
She became tacky, flashy wallpaper
a velvety velour
with florets
pirouetting across background scene
seen only by observant
those keen on tactile textiles
slow moving reptile
scaling the walls
giving ‘way to routine.
Azalea’s latest publication, graphite & graffiti , consists of a short collection of letter-pressed poems, imprinted heavily with playful words, nestled between the pages of Chinese Crane paper print. Only 125 copies available.
Please note that graphite & graffiti will be available in the spring of 2010.
The Heart of Health
by Kimberly Ann Brown, MSOM, LAc
Each chapter from the Art of War defines a particular dimension of warfare, which serves here in The Heart of Health as an analogue for health care management. Topics include: assessing presenting circumstances of a patient; creating the most effective treatment approach; understanding and utilizing the interconnected nature of a patient’s organ systems; restoring health and well-being with the most applicable and effective treatment plans; modifying treatment plans to match the dynamic nature for any diseased state; and employing therapeutic methodology in a subtle and skillful nature without causing harm to a patient. The author has deeply contemplated the heart of the Art of War and reflects to the reader the closest relationships between healthcare management and the inherent art form therein.
Achieving optimum health, especially in today’s distracted world, seems out of reach for many, however, The Heart of Health makes health possible for practitioners of medicine and the populace at large. Health is our most valuable asset, why not learn to cultivate it with this easy how-to-guide based upon thousands of years of expertise?
Please note that The Heart of Health will be available in the autumn of 2010.
