Passion behind the mission

The Whispering ink pipe dream first began funneling my energy in the dandelion summers of my weedy youth. Used bookstores were my haven, as I would hide amongst the tall make-shift forts formed by faded books. My fingers traced the imprints left by printing presses, my nose inhaled inspirations from paper and words alike. Shel Silverstein and Roald Dahl were my secret super heroes, and at an early age I was convinced that one day I, too, would possess a similar superhuman ability to capture a literary audience spanning generations. I would have the capacity to speak to the masses from my bully pulpit of ingenuity, creating sentence structure unknown to those before me. My imagination grew, as did my knowledge of bookbinding. Since that time I have privately possessed an underwritten strategy to be part of a publishing company, one dedicated to the art of sentence structure and unstructured design.

I allowed this idea to mull in my mind until my late twenties, when I began to crawl outside my thoughts and into the dimly lit literary scenes tucked neatly in bars around Portland. I began to realize that there are others out there with the same intentions as my own. I thought: why not create a forum where the creative voice is recognized in a form outside the run-of-the-mill paperback quality so commonly produced today? The culmination of these thoughts became a reality under the heading: Whispering ink .

The name Whispering ink has many meanings. However, its title is best summed through a synergistic definition arising from the dualistic qualities of the immaterial and the material world. It is the unseen. It is the moment when a reader gets taken in, sucked cleanly between the text, and into a thoughtfully designed alternate world. It is the space where nothing exists except the dictations from a narrator who adeptly understands how to lead reader by reins from one line to the next. Whispering ink is also the seen, those subtle clues left by skillful master artist. It is the ability to take an invisible thought and express it visibly through various qualitative mediums. In essence, Whispering ink embodies an extension of an author’s work, allowing the reader to feel the depth of craftsmanship both cerebrally as well as physically.

At its foundation, Whispering ink consists of woven cotton-candied childhood memories intertwined with the coarse fibers of a well-structured business. Quality and care are our utmost concerns. Thank you for perusing.
